About Airwallex
Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own.
We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,700 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. Read our operating principles to see it in full.
How you'll make impact
You'll work directly with startups, founders, and strategic partners to help them build on Airwallex, combining hands-on integration work with polished demo and reference implementation engineering. You'll independently build working integrations and collaborate closely with external teams to co-create applications that help them get started and build internal support for working with Airwallex.
Deliver working integrations and demos with startups, founders, and strategic partners on tight timelines.
Build polished reference implementations and co-create applications that help external teams ship and gain internal support for Airwallex.
Lead external builder engagements, helping teams navigate the platform and make sound architectural decisions.
Turn patterns from partner integrations into playbooks, templates, and reusable approaches that improve speed and consistency.
Bring partner feedback to Product and Engineering teams to influence priorities and platform improvements.
You'll work from our San Francisco office three days a week.
What we're looking for
Essentials
5+ years of experience in a technical, partner- or customer-facing engineering role, such as Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, Developer Relations, or a similar position.
Strong hands-on ability to build functional integrations and high-quality demos or reference implementations.
Proven ability to deliver complex technical work quickly while maintaining high quality.
Strong at identifying patterns and turning one-off work into scalable approaches, such as playbooks, templates, or processes.
Comfortable operating with ambiguity and driving outcomes with limited structure.
Effective at influencing cross-functional stakeholders through clear communication and credible technical insight.
Preferred
Experience working with startups or external ecosystems.
Background in payments, fintech infrastructure, or developer platforms.
Experience with AI agents, programmable workflows, or similar emerging use cases.
A track record of building demos or reference implementations that were adopted more broadly.
You'll thrive here if
You're comfortable owning the roadmap yourself.
You own the outcome and you don't wait for permission to fix what's broken.
You're comfortable with ambiguity. Give you a problem, not a prescription, and you'll run with it.
You default to action. You'd rather course-correct in motion than wait for perfect clarity.
You can advocate hard for a position, then fully support the team's direction once a call is made.
